About the maker:
Claudio Cavicchi was a farmer
of fruits and cereal. He made his first pipe for himself 36 years ago, and in
1974 he started making pipes for friends. Then in 1985 he received his first
order from a tobacconist in Bologna, Italy, and now the Cavicchi name is well
known all over the world. He's married to Daniela who makes the mouthpieces, and
does all the rustication. Claudio participates in many pipe smoking contests
when he's not making pipes. He holds the Guinness World Record for the longest
smoke. In 1994 at the World Cup in Switzerland he lasted for 3 hours and 19
minutes. Unofficially in a Italian contest with only 3 grams of tobacco he
smoked for over 4 hours. Cavicchi Pipes are made from the finest blocks of
briar, and the mouthpieces are cut thin and comfortable.
