Red Hat
Cobra Horn
About the maker:
Close by many of the Danish Masters, Kjeld Sorensen "Red Hat
Pipes" has access to the materials, equipment, and knowledge of the highest
caliber. Kjeld has been a Pipe Smoker and Collector for over 40 years, and has
participated in many Smoking Competitions in the last 15 years. Not only a
successful Economist in the field of monetary exchange, Kjeld has the potential
to become a skilled pipemaker. Since late 2003 Kjeld has been working full time
as a pipemaker and learning about design, craftsmanship, and many other skills.
The first year in his studies resulted in a collection of pipes showing a broad
variety of shapes, materials, and methods through many experimentations, and he
has had many good instructors including Tom Eltang. Kjeld found these steps
necessary to discover a style that will be unique, and that he will be proud of.
Kjeld has chosen the Red Hat symbol for his pipes, and he actively markets the
pipes with a Big Red Hat at pipe shows and smoking competitions. His designs are
primarily influenced by the lines and elegance of the Danish, and the playful
but balanced lines of the Japanese.
