Premal and Scott, it is a beautiful pipe, in both appearance and use. Mine arrived this morning and got its first half bowl of "Three Friars" early this evening. (I've always prefered to use a Burley blend for 'breaking in' a pipe. This is certainly close enough.)
I'm loath to admit that I didn't notice a singular feature from the photos, and I'd like to congratulate which of you decided upon adding the 'keel'. The bowl fits in my hand excellently, as if it were made to measure, and the keel gives my ring finger a perfect resting place. Kudos! It also hangs exactly as a ¼ bent should, and clenches nicely, the balance being that fine. The rough blast finish feels both comfortable and secure in the hand, and I'd be very content smoking it whilst lunting on an inclement day, or smoking it during a long coddiwomple, rain or shine. I'd also like to express my appreciation for the engineering design. The draught is fullsome and clear, the tobacco smoulders in the bowl as it was meant to, making the smoking experience a joy.
So many collaborations fail as a compromise, becoming a collection of ideas and design directions. This one is a brilliant melding of two talented artisans. Truly, a club pipe befitting such a diverse, yet harmonious, (most of the time), group as the GPSS. As a longtime member, I'd like to thank you both for your combined artistry, craftsmanship, and extra effort. A very lovely pipe. Thank you both.
