Pictures never do the subtle sculpting of John Klose's work justice. Each pipe seems to be both solid in proportion but shaped as if liquid had been poured into a vessel. The dome of the rim provides a smooth outer portion, framing the polished plateau and creating an authentic and striking centerpiece. A high contrast finish of brilliant flame grain, like bubbles rising to the surface, work around the entire surface of the wood. A thin elder boxwood band and a close crown pull just engough attention to the slight bend of the stem to keep the whole piece steady and solid. Every detail flawless. Adjectives are very useful for this calliber of art.
