About the maker:
Rolando Negoita was born in Transylvania, a region of Romania with a long tradition of craftsmanship. Several generations of Rolando's family have a deeply rooted background as artisans. Rolando himself is a graduate of the Romanian Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest, Romania, and he is now teaching Metal Smithing and Product Design at Parsons School of Design in New York. Rolando continues his design work in his own studio. During his youth in Romania, Rolando was fascinated with Pipes, and due to the limited availability of Briar, he used many other burls such as Cherry and Rose Hip to experiment with. Currently living in New York, Rolando has developed a well equipped workshop to produce his masterpieces. Not only a master Pipe maker, Rolando has a talent for Metal Smithing and he often incorporates Silver and other combinations of metals into his pipes. Rolando's Pipes are made to the highest standards. They are functional sculptures with a whimsical design in relation to many natural shapes.
