Kerry S. Wathen was an American pipemaker active during the 1970s, known for his distinctive craftsmanship and unorthodox shaping style. He worked for The Briar Patch, a small but respected pipe shop located in south Kansas City, where his pipes developed a loyal regional following. Wathen had a particular affinity for larger formats, and he became especially known for his signature extra-long spiral shank Lovats.  They were unmistakable pieces that blended practical smoking qualities with a unique visual flair.

After The Briar Patch closed, Wathen is believed to have relocated to Iowa, where his work continued to surface at David’s Briar Shop in Des Moines. Though relatively obscure in the broader market, his pipes remain sought after by collectors.
