Since 1863 when Russian immigrant Frederick Charatan first opened his pipe making shop in the shadows of the fabled Tower of London, the House of Charatan has been one of the most respected names in the world of pipes. Known for their unique shapes and phenomenal smoking quality, Charatan pipes have been a favorite of British royalty and common folk the world over for nearly 150 years. This brand has had three distinct identities in its history; there is a distinct pre-Lane Charatan period (before 1950), a Lane era (1950-1984 or so), and a post-Lane era (1984-present).

Description:
This pipe is small for a typical Executive, but the grain is outstanding.  This pipe was made in the Lane era but it does not have the traditional "L" Stamp.

Condition:
96/100   This pipe is in Excellent Condition.  There is only a little darkening inside the bowl and the pipe smells fresh with no hint of burnt tobacco or smoke scent.  There is barely any darkening inside the shank and looks as if the pipe was smoked only a handful of times.  There are a couple of microscopic handling marks on the pipe.  The pipe has been cleaned and polished and is ready to smoke.  The interior of the bowl towards the top is a little out of round and looks to have been re-shaped, but there is no sign of any damage.  The original double comfort stem is in mint condition
