GBD
Tapestry Collector Pot 9682
About the maker:
GBD's are often considered as "also rans" among the classic British pipes, especially after their acquisition by Cadogan, who repositioned them as low-end pieces. But like Comoy, they had their origins in France at the turn of the century, and then moving to London, center of the pipe universe at that time. They produced consistently well made pipes, almost entirely of Algerian briar. Toward the end of the "family" period, they introduced the "Collector" and "Unique" lines, made by Jamieson, who had carved for Barling for many years. Older GBD pieces are very good smokers.
