Papa Bear's

Tim “PapaBear” Beaumont is the artisan behind PapaBear’s Handcrafted Briar Pipes. After many years in a regular job, in 2018 he stepped away and retired to a small wood shop in the country. He began by making furniture for his children — and one day, with a piece of walnut lying around, he built his first pipe. It was rough around the edges, but smoked well. That success lit a spark.

Tim then moved on to working with briar, using basic tools like a rasp, files, and an orbital palm sander, experimenting with different shapes and finishes. His friends noticed and asked for custom pipes. Before long, his shop was filled with his own pipes, made for kids, buddies, and those Sunday evenings on the porch enjoying good tobacco, good bourbon, & quiet talk.

Today, Tim spends most of his days in the shop, crafting pipes for customers and friends. He balances modern elements and materials to produce classics and others that are more freehand and expressive. His goal is steady improvement, and to treat every customer fairly. Many of them have become friends.
