REFBJERG
Smooth Straight Grain Freehand
About the maker:
Soren Refbjerg has been a pipemaker for more than 30 years. In the 1970s he had a pipe factory with 8 pipemakers working with him. In those days they made freehands under the Soren name. The total production was more than 250.000 pieces.
Refbjerg doesn't make many pipes these days, but those he does make are very good. They are now stamped with his last name, and tend to be small or medium-sized - because that's the size Soren likes to smoke himself.
His grading is fairly simple: pipes stamped "Straight Grain" are the best with very few sandspots. The rest are ungraded and smooth pipes may have larger spots, but no fills (we haven't been able to find any yet).
Besides being a pipemaker, Soren is also a supplier of briar and sells to other pipemakers in Denmark and abroad. He has access to very fine briar and all of his production is made entirely from selected Corsican briar.
