About the maker:
Tomasso Spanu, famous Italian pipe maker, studied under Alberto Paronelli.  His pieces exhibit the best in Italian style and craftsmanship. Spanu makes his pipes completely by hand, according to true pipe making traditions. They are made of the best briar found in Sardinia in southern Italy.  Spanu is famous for his unique briar freehand, but he is also known for using exotic materials - such as  olive wood - for some of his pipes.
