Manfred Hortig

With intricate contours and eccentric designs, Manfred Hortig Sculpts his art into the form of Briar.  Born in Lüchfeld Germany, Manfred started a career as an Auto mechanic out of High School.  After military service, he studied cultural sciences and began to enjoy a fine smoking pipe. After working in cultural fields for some time, he trained and worked as a surveyor.  After retiring in 2012 pipe making became his hobby and passion.  With experience in developing other artworks, Manfred was able to apply his skills and designs to pipes to bring a unique array of eye catching shapes to the fine sport of pipe collecting.  Each and every pipe is carved by hand with Manfred's unrestricted thoughts in design.
